An Evening with Adrian Lester

In conversation with Fiona Lindsay

From the glorious deceit of Hustle to the political intrigues of Primary Colors, AdrianLesterknows a thing or two about becoming somebody else. But what of the man behind all those brilliantly inhabited lives?

Join Adrian and Fiona Lindsay for an evening exploring a life spent stepping into other people’s shoes. Some, presumably, rather more comfortable than others.

Beloved as Hustle’s supremely stylish Mickey Bricks, Adrian made his international breakthrough alongside John Travolta and Emma Thompson in Primary Colors. His screen credits include The Day After Tomorrow, Mary, Queen of Scots, Undercover, Trigger Point, Renegade Nell and The Hack.

Then there is the stage: Othello, Henry V, Cyrano de Bergerac, an Olivier Award for Company and a Tony nomination for Broadway’s The Lehman Trilogy. A formidable collection of characters, with some complicated men among them.

But a career is never simply a list of credits. What happens between the big moments? The unexpected encounter, the awkward audition, the decision that changes everything? And how does imagining other people’s worlds shape the way you see your own?

With warmth, curiosity and room for the unexpected, Fiona invites Adrian to reflect on ambition, identity, inspiration and the people who have mattered along the way.

An evening about life and art, the extraordinary business of being human, and what happens when the costume comes off.
